Lee's Movie Info - Visitor Ratings For Star Wars

Compared to today films and special effects, Star Wars was not at all significant. Compared to today?s skilled actors and the caliber of art direction, Star Wars was ordinary. In 1978, when I was 6 years old, Star Wars was the greatest movie of all time. That feeling lasted all the way until I was 20. It had that big of an impact. Yes, I was a product of that particular time frame with all the action figures and toys. It is hard not to mention the marketing when speaking of this landmark film. But that will be all I will say about that. After all, this IS a movie review.

The story is well written and compelling. The special effects were ground breaking and the action was unparalleled. The acting lacked luster except for the one bright shining star... Harrison Ford. He single-handedly saved this movie for me. His smart-aleck attitude and suave piracy made THE most interesting character in the bunch and it was masterfully played.

This whole movie is one big, fun adventure and that very element was key to its success. What else could you want? There were blasters and explosions, love and revenge, chase scenes and rescues. This movie had it all... except strong acting.
