When I was watching the movie, I was enthralled by some of scences involving the Hulk but I found the talky parts of the movie pretty boring. There are a lot of positives to his movie: acting, action scences, the computer animated Hulk, and the story line.
Basically, the story is about a scientist, who, when he gets angry, turns into a monstrous beast who wrecks havoc at his enemies. The enemies are his father and this greedy business-type man. Betty Ross, who is his ex-girlfriend, is trying to stop Bruce Banner from becoming his alter-ego, the Hulk. Ang Lee, the director of Crouching Tiger and the Ice Storm, created this movie because he likes the way the Hulk is created by the emotion: anger.
The Hulk has several scences of violence involving Bruce's father bleeding hand, the dogs v.s. the Hulk scence, and the exploding frog. Thus, the movie is pretty violent. The Hulk's plot, which is pretty slow for teens like me, is not that engaging but otherwise a plot unlike some movies. Hulk's artistic qualities also slow down the film as well.
Why did I give an A? I like the movie because I like the visual effects scence and the plot. All of Ang Lee's expectations haven't been meant which probably had effect on the outcome of its boxoffice. Nevertheless, the movie is a movie that makes you think, and enthralls you with its special effects. The main theme of this movie is anger and how it can have effect on any man or woman in this world. What this world needs is patience and understanding rather than anger and vengeance. Hulk is the example of anger and vengeance and Bruce doesn't want that but can't control it. The second most important theme is in regard to sinning fathers and tortured children. A father that wants to be God and extend beyond the power of God is a man of greed and unrighteousness. A tortured kid is one who is needy and weak, who, therefore has problems. The Third theme is the destruction and mayhem science can do to people. With science, you can create things and all of the sort, which leads to new things to this world when its not meant to be created, such as the Hulk.
Therefore, the movie is good and Ang Lee deserves credit on what he wanted to achieve than what he actually accomplished. Its hard for a director like him to direct a movie like this, but the movie worked out fine.
