    This is such a cute movie! My dad had seen it on tv and loved it so I ordered it for him for Christmas and we loved watching it as well. It’s about a single mom, the father had presumably passed away, with two small children, a young boy and a girl. They live on a farm and one day their cow has a calf in which the little boy wants to train to be a show cow. He trains the cow and goes to his first show in his small town and moves on to a bigger championship show. Without spoiling the whole movie, he goes to the bigger show and gets into a little bit of trouble and has to find his way home with his best friend. When you think the mean business man is going to kill his best bud cow, hookie, he surprises you. Such a sweet, wholesome, clean, great movie for the whole family !

    I have a four year old boy and a six year old girl and both of them just adore this movie. The movie is very wholesome, sweet natured and old fashioned. However, it still holds my kids' attention for the entire length of the movie. The first time I watched it, I was a little more critical. I was bothered by some gaping holes in the plot and thought some of the musical interludes with the kids dancing etc. were goofy. However, the kids loved it so much that I bought the DVD when it came out. After watching it again, I was no longer bothered by the relatively minor flaws and instead focused on the incredibly sweet story about the family and the strong messages the movie conveyed about the importance of family, self reliance, sportsmanship and the relative lack of importance of material wealth. All in all, as a family movie, Grand Champion is almost perfect. It is a low tech, low budget equivalent of the best of the Pixar movies.

We also bought the soundtrack to play before the movie begins - I like to listen to it in my car...it reminds me of the scenes in the movie. I love it.
