Product Description
Three hitchhikers find trouble in rural Australia.
Amazon.com
Wolf Creek, written and directed by Greg McClean, is the Blair Witch Project of the Australian outback. Capitalizing on the human fear of becoming lost in the wilderness, in this case a desert crater called Wolf Creek National Park, this graphic horror film exploits the handheld camera to capture the grotesque actions of Mick Taylor (John Janatt), a sadistic serial killer. When a hip twenty-something guy, Ben Mitchell (Nathan Phillips), and two hippie-ish girls, Cassandra (Liz Hunter) and Kristy (Kestie Morassi), take a road trip and their car breaks down, they have no choice but to accept help from Mick, an eccentric rural Aussie, who, like a spider, tows them into his nightmarish lair. Mick hunts kangaroos and hates tourists, translating his fetish for knives, shotguns, and other torture devices into a need to kill humans as if they're vermin infesting his majestic landscape. Ample blood and gore leave the viewer feeling nearly as sick as the girls who are forced to watch each other die. Like Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs, Mick Taylor is a savvy, calculating killer, despicable but psychologically fascinating. --Trinie Dalton

- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2006I saw this film in the theatre during its brief holiday run and was quite impressed with its gritty realism. It does attain a certain air of verisimilitude due to the time invested in character development and the skill of the young actors involved. Of course, this enhances the full-throttle horror which we know is on its way. Yes, the depiction of sadistic madness is most chilling, and we are certainly caught up in this trip through utter insanity. But when all is said and done, we who are in our right senses realize that this is only a movie, and that nobody actually got hurt during the shocking scenes that we have viewed on the screen.
There are those, however, for whom the lines between reality and fiction become blurred. These are the folks who wish to level the usual hysterical charges at fans of this film. You know, that we watch this film in the same way that we would have enjoyed watching Black people being lynched [!] back in the bad old days. What this homicidal maniac does to his hapless victims is even equated, by some, to a woman being able to legally avail herself of an abortion! Of course, our parents enjoyed seeing Psycho in the theatres of their youth because they all related to Norman and wished they could stab people repeatedly like he did. The sanctimonious ones who express these puerile notions only viewed this film in a high-minded effort to understand the level of depravity to which the rest of us have sunk; they were certainly not there to be entertained. They are above all that.
In any event, I would recommend this frightfest to those who enjoy their horror straight-up, and are still able to discern fact from fiction.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2025Because its based on a true story its even more maddening. The girl almost kills the horrible evil guy but of course she doesnt make sure he is dead, guess what happens.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2025Nice condition.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2021I really loved the movies and the series both to this movie! It’s based on the true story of a serial killer who was very hard to catch, largely to his brilliant madness, and his harsh, and very isolated home in the Outback, which has a special significance to him , which you will learn about in the movie and series. I can tell you it’s very well made and the acting is great! So, it’s NOT some low budget movie. I’m very picky about the horror and suspense movies I do watch and very rarely will I spend money on them but Wolf creek movies and series were well worth the price! I’ll put it to you like this, I watched them well over a year ago and their still with me! So, I hope this will help you all make your decision about renting these, they don’t cost much and there both so worth it!! They keep you on your toes from beginning to end. It’s a crazy ride but once you start watching, you just can’t stop!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2010Wolf Creek is a MEAN movie. It is so realistic in its gritty portrayal of violence that it is utterly sickening at times. However being in the presence of a real life serial killer as he carries out his heinous work would certainly be upsetting on a level you won't find in conventional horror movies and Wolf Creek gives you a closer, more brutal, unflinching view of a real serial killer's deeds than you're ever likely to see. In fact, Wolf Creek is so successful at achieving its goal of realism that some people really can't take it and feel a need to lash out at the movie for what it has made them confront.
So they come up with words and comments that might make people wary like 'boring,' 'the plot sucked', etc. The simple fact is that Wolf Creek is a movie with TEETH! Big nasty jagged ugly freakin' teeth! It doesn't care about your petty PC (politically correct) sensibilities. It doesn't care about justice. It simply reflects reality (which by the way is often VERY non-PC) and focuses its assets to achieve its single goal... to scare the living hell out of you. It is a film that none who see it will ever forget. Watch at your own risk. Me...I'm glad I took that risk.

Película innovadora en el género con un villano que no lo parece pero luego es el mismísimo diablo, borda el papel. Tías buenas y buen argumento.
