Product Description
Beer League is an outrageous comedy about Artie (Lange), an unemployed underachiever who still lives with his mother and plays in a small town softball league in New Jersey with his rag-tag group of misfit friends. Arties team faces off their nemeses, headed by Dennis Manganelli (De Sando), and the two rivals do more fighting than playing. When Arties team is threatened with permanent expulsion from the local league after being jailed for yet another fight on the field, they must rally and move from last place to first -- in one brief season, while Artie tries to hold on to the only woman who loves him for who he is.

It's appropriate that this extravaganza of lowbrow cinema had its premiere at the 2006 Cinevegas Film Festival, because what happens in Artie Lange's Beer League should stay in Artie Lange's Beer League. Lange is most recognizable for his stint in the Mad TV ensemble, but probably more idolized by the people who will get wild kicks from his leading man debut as the resident guest-baiter and booze/scatological/flatulence/sex joke expert on Howard Stern's radio show. Those are the same kinds of laughs this movie relies on in telling the wisp of a story about a bunch of New Jersey boneheads whose lives are fulfilled by softball games and the beer-guzzling that goes on before, during, and after. Artie's team is proud to be in the bottom ranks of their league, especially when brawls erupt at games against their slick, archrival team. Artie and the rest of his team know these arrogant jerks in their immaculate black (of course) uniforms are unbeatable, so it's only natural that Artie thinks its easier to just beat the hell out of them. The local cop who's had to deal with both teams finally gets so angry with the escalating brawls that he issues an ultimatum: Whichever team loses the season has to disband and never play on the league again. It's kind of an utterly tasteless version of The Bad News Bears for people who like their movies vulgar, offensive, misogynistic, and often really funny in spite of it all. Some of the subplots and supporting players include Ralph Macchio as one of Artie's childhood friends who's about to get married (cue depraved bachelor party scene with lots of topless babes), Mary Birdsong from Reno 911! as a kooky waitress, and a delightful turn by crusty character actor Seymour Cassel as Artie's teammate Dirt, who may be old but loves booze, fisticuffs, and debauchery as much as anyone. For some reason, Artie's foul-mouthed slobbery attracts a local Jersey girl (Cara Buono), even though he's jobless and still lives with his mom (Laurie Metcalf, who should get some kind of good sport award). The buffoonery doesn't just stop with the movie. There's also more than two hour of bonus material tailored for Artie Lange enthusiasts who probably number more than you'd think -- whether they'd ever admit it or not. --Ted Fry
Review
It's a terrific movie! We laughed our asses off! --Howard Stern

- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2007I really like Artie Lange alot and I'm a fan of Howard Stern's show. With that being said, I'm also a big Movie Buff and have literally viewed thousans of movies in my lifetime (Im 40 Y/0). I think Beer League is a very enjoyable movie taking the viewer into the lifestyle of a softball league player and also the culture of dating in this rough/tough envirnomnent of blue-collar workers.
The humor was there and Artie's nemesis in the movie (Dennis Manginelli) played by Anthony DeSando is Halarious with a capital 'H'. Artie's love in the movie (Linda Salvo)is absolutely adorable as can be and I want to state right now, right here that I want to marry her, so Artie beat it! This beauty who plays Artie's love affair in the movie is Cara Buono, and I'm watching whatever tv or movie she ever appears in! Is this a 4 star epic film? No. But it's definitely a 4 Star just chillin with your girlfriend or wife movie. I highly rate this movie, and it's already known via Artie on the Howard Stern show that this film didn't do big in the box office. Fair enough. But make sure you go out and rent this DVD or do like I did and purchase it! I've watched it twice already and it made me laugh harder the second time. Niceeeeeee.....

- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2007After so many people rated this movie as a bomb, I deleted the dvd from my wish list. Luckly for me I decided to change my mind and give the movie a chance. I am happy to say I am glad I did. Artie Lange in "Dirty Work" had to be the worst acting I have ever seen. Artie you have redeemed your acting skills in this movie. Artie does a great job along with the rest of the cast. This movie was very entertaining from start to finish. I can not figure out why so many prople feel this movie was so bad. If you want bad rent benchwarmers. I would recommend this as a definite must see. 4 out of 5 stars. Good Job Artie!!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2013My husband loves this movie, and when we moved it was erased from our DVR. This shipment came quickly, the transaction was so easy, was sealed in the case and packed carefully, not a scratch on it~ they even included a personal note to thank me and to contact them with any problems! Great seller!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2015One of the funniest DVDs I have ever seen. When the party gets alittle slow, and the guys have naturally split off from the ladies, pop this video in your player and watch the tears of laughter begin. The guys will love it!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 16, 2006Don't listen to these "fans" who bash Artie Lange's Beer League. It's both fun and funny. Ok, it's not Citizen Kane, but really, have you ever seen Citizen Kane - it's BORING!!! Beer League is not boring, it's great and you'll have a good time watching it. Be sure you're in a good mood, open a couple of Heinikens, sit back and have FUN!
