Product Description

"My Brother" is an inner city story of two impoverished boys, of which one is developmentally disabled. Dying of tuberculosis, their mother tries to get her two boys adopted together. Finding that only one can be adopted, the mother creates an unbreakable bond of love between the boys, hoping that bond will get them through life. Her prayers are answered as the boys overcome impossible odds on their way to adulthood.

    Aside from being an excellent tale of resilience and compassion, this movie's depiction of the state mental institution was graphically realistic. When I was an undergrad in a psychology class, we were shown an expose of the horrors of mental institutions in the 60's. What I saw has continued to haunt me and been the stimulating factor that keeps me in my social services profession 20 yrs later. "My Brother" literally lifted those images and portrayed them with such sensitivity and realism. My only hope is that more people see this incredible film and join in stopping such atrocities worldwide.

    I loved this movie I have a disable child and I had faced illness and the same thing happen to my mom who is deceased and I think this is a great movie to watch with your kids or family to help you cope with sickness and death.

    When I saw a trailer of this movie on the television I was so excited! It was nothing like I expected. The story was weak. I felt badly for the actors having to deal with such an awful script. The acting was surprisingly good! Don't pay top dollar for this movie. I fell asleep.

    This movie definitely had great potential, but there were too many unanswered questions in this movie. I really enjoyed how the movie emphasized the mother and her love for her boys, how she tried to help the older boy to stand up for himself, and the bond she created between the two boys. Vanessa Williams is a dynamic actress and she played the role of the mother with great professionalism and greatness. But there were just too many gaps in the movie to allow it to be sensational. It needed more!
