- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2024Absolutely Delightful. Just what the doc ordered. Love the actors and loved the story. Such a feel-good movie. Quite a few belly laughs. I will watch this again especially with all the STUFF that's out there now.
Great movie.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2023Bad pacing of story told a thousand times before. Eva Mendes role better suited for Juliette Lewis who already has the perfect East Texas drawl. Eva was too uptown for middle class Austin.
Wanted to like it but didn't. The music was the best thing about this film.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2021I like the innocence of Wedell. Everybody got what they deserved. Just a great story. You will cheer for him all the way through.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2015I had seen this on regular TV, and liked it, but it was a condensed version of the movie to allow for commercials. It is such a funny movie, with brother Luke & Owen Wilson in it, along with Eddie Griffith, & Kris Christopherson. I am glad to have it now in our DVD collection
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2010This movie is a kick! Really well done. Very quirky, very endearing. Good ensemble cast. Lots of laughs. If you like this one, then see Henry Poole was Here too - also very good. There is something very geniuine about both movies. Definitely my two favorite Luke Wilson movies. Hope there are more like these to come.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2024I was watching this movie all right until, at the 7-minute mark, they have a scene where the main character is in the bathroom and holding a child so he can pee, but the visuals of a child getting molested are disgusting. Knowing what we know today about Hollywood being a cesspool of pedophiles, who in the world thought this scene was okay? The parents of the child? Casting? The writers and producers? And the main actor Luke Wilson. I mean, it is disgusting, awful. SOmeone was reliving about something they had already done or wished to do . EVIL!!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2021sometimes he breaks the law and he does not understand why he can't be deported to mexico, until his lawyer tells him, he is an american.this is a dark comedy, which means i don't think anything is funny. but, this was a very good and different movie. the two brothers are in this together, against each other. both writers and both actors. a lot of this takes place in a nursing home, they call a hotel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining movie
It's an entertaining movie.
The idea is hillarious but unfortunately some charakters are not plaid out to their full potential. Ex. the evil head-nurse played by Owen Wilson should have had a more important role, since he's brilliantly evil.
Nevertheless I liked the movie, it's easygoing and the story climaxes slowly but surely.
It includes romance and a short intermezzo of Will Ferrell which I certainly never expected.
