Come on! Does every movie have to be happy and uncomplicated? No. These characters are messy and real. Margot is extreme in the way that certain people in life are. Despite her lips, Nicole Kidman was amazing. Even Jack Black was good as the whiny fiance. Jennifer Jason Leigh was *amazing*, however. Life is messy, crazy, disturbing and beautiful--like this film. Brilliant. I can't wait for Noah Baumbach's next one.

As an avid fan of dysfunctional family stories (in film and print), I adore this movie. An excellent tale of a family who simultaneously have no boundaries but are strangers. Beautifully cast, you really feel the emotional intensity of the story. Definitely worth adding to your dvd collection.

Interesting roles for Nicole Kidman and Jack Black, far darker characters than they usually play. The movie showed conflict among the family, and definitely showcases a bitter outlook on relationships. It's an interesting movie to watch to see Jack Black's acting alone, as I said before, it's a unique role for him - very emotional. Try it out if you're a fan of indie films.

While an intelligent portrait of a highly dysfunctional family that shares a lot in
tone and style with Baumbach's amazing `Squid and the Whale', this is colder,
    more distant and less moving.

That's OK, and it's still WAY above most of what's out there, but it's hard not
to feel there's a great movie trapped in this good one.

One thing that hurts is that (unlike `Squid') the acting is uneven. I don't want
to cast stones at a cast this talented, but it didn't always feel to me like everyone
    was in the same film.

But this is one of those complex films I'll re-visit one day, and could imagine
liking more on re-seeing, being better prepared for it's difficult tone.

I wanted to like this picture. Jack Black and Jennifer Jason Leigh are two of my fave's, but the longer I watched the more stupid the story got.
Then the show was over.....it never got started then it was over, just like that. The acting was good, the scenery was great, but who ever wrote the story and who ever thought he wrote a good story need to go back to school. Bottom line it was a actors movie for other actors, not for the regular movie watcher.
No more stupid dramas for me, give me a good comedy, even a stupid comedy over Margot at the Wedding.
Any one want a once watched DVD.

I had seen this come on before watching a movie and couldn't find it anywhere. But here, it is a great movie, wasn't opened, priced great and shipped fast. I will always look here to find the movies I can't find elsewhere. Thank you so much

Ok so Nicole Kidman is always good and so are the other actors. But if a movie has a lame plot then there is no hope of it being entertaining. I don't mind sad or disturbing but this was boring. And the ending was just plain stupid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Margot shouldn't have gone to the wedding basically!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 18, 2011
What a fantastic film - Kidman is brilliant and I couldn't help wincing at her brilliant portrayal of a complex and let's face it messed-up character. I do love a good messed up character and it's so easy to get it wrong - but Kidman and in fact all of the cast get this spot on portrait of relationships in turmoil completely spot on. If you liked 'The Squid and the Whale' you will ike this - if you didn't don't bother! I liked it and the product reached me fast and in brilliant condition!

Un bon film intimiste avec Nicole Kidman, malheureusement introuvable en VF. Ce DVD ne peut être regardé que si on comprends l'anglais, si besoin avec sous-titres également anglais.
