- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2019Love this soundtrack! I fell in love with the original Off Broadway original cast album years ago but this is from the endearing movie version. Ellen Green reprises the role that she originated at the Orpheum Theater in New York City (now home to Stomp) of Audrey, while Rick Moranis took on the role of the lovable but cursed, Seymour Krelborn. Sprinkle in the talents of Steve Martin, Tachina Arnold, Tisha Campbell, Michelle Weeks, and Levi Stubbs (as Audrey II) and it's a great version of this quirky musical written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman ( later of Disney's Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and more.)
Some of the songs are different but reasonable replacements for some of the original songs. If you love the original cast version, you'll probably not appreciate it as much as I do. Steve Martin and Rick Moranis, though very talented, are not professional singers ( though I have to say that I like Martin's version better than the original) but they do a fine job. I think it's absolutely worth having.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2012I was looking for the soundtract for this movie for a while. I love the movie and love the music in the movie. Now I can listen to it any time I want to.
I imported the songs into iTunes and now have it on my iPod Touch. The songs are sung the same way they are in the movie. There is another CD for the Broadway Play but the movie version is my favorite.
I do not have to watch the whole movie when I want to listen to the music. I can still watch the movie but I do not always have time to do that.
This is a very good CD.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2013The music for this show is fantastic, and the movie version is great - I like it much better than the Broadway version although it might depend on which you heard first. Ellen Greene starred in the Broadway play as Audrey and is stunningly good - and her voice is perfect. Hard to believe such power can come out of such a petite person. Rick Moranis can actually sing, who knew?
- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2012This is a fantastically fun movie, written by the same team that created
"The Little Mermaid." The words are incredibly clever and the music is
top notch! There are inside rhymes (rhymes within the same line) and you
can't beat Steve Martin singing "the Dentist." Lyrics: "I thrill when
I drill a bicuspid - It's swell when they tell me I'm maladjusted..."
What are you waiting for?
- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2011I really enjoyed listening to the songs, sung by the movie actors, but the CD is not quite as good as the movie soundtrack. Sidrow is really nice, Steve Martin in the dentist tune is outstanding, and even a tune or two that was left out of the movie, can be found on this Cd. But, I had rather have the songs cut directly from the movie, when at all possible. Still, well worth the money to have this CD.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2018If you live the music from this movie, the soundtrack is for you. I popped it into my car stereo for my roommates mother (as she LOVES this movie) and she was so excited and laughing and singing along and couldn't believe it was playing . It was simply worth it just for that. Good sound quality . Naturally when she got a owl hand warmer named Seymour I had to belt out in my best imitation of "suddenly Seymour"
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2017Bought this to replace my tape, which somehow vanished. Maybe aliens came down and swiped it. The music is great. If you've got the soundtrack from the movie memorized, this will occasionally be a little jarring because dialogue you're expecting to hear won't be there.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 17, 2022We reviewed the cd on time and it works well. No problems. Would buy again from this vendor

5.0 out of 5 stars Feed your ears with this delicious musical!!!
A classic cult favourite musical that ranks up there with The Rocky Horror Picture Show!
I also managed to get the special edition blu ray of the film, and I'm recommending all fans to do the same...the alternate ending alone is good, as well as the behind the scene documentaries...

4.0 out of 5 stars
