For anyone with an interest in Musicals and the Popular song the "Unsung Musicals" series has a great deal to offer. Volume III is no exception. Most musicals have such a chequered history that the appearance or disappearance of quality material is often down to chance. The series gives the opportunity for the listener to judge for themselves the quality of lost items. Not all will touch you equally but some are outstanding. For example the opening song "Nothing To Do With Love" is full of sharp satirical observations about modern life and is really well performed by the talented ensemble company. But all the very varied songs are effectively performed. The touching numbers like "Hero" are exceptional both for the singing and the material itself. The brochure gives a basic background to each song and its origins. A CD to enjoy and to know that you as the individual listener have the chance discover some of those gems which somehow have been to lost to general audiences.
