- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2006I first saw the movie at a med-evac hospital overseas while caring for Vietnam-wounded Marines, and I fell in love with the soundtrack then and there. As soon as I was returned to the States (or as we used to call it "The World") I bought the album and played it until the grooves wore out. Then came the 8 track, the cassette, and now the CD. Time marches on.
Burt Bacharach is pure genius, and this soundtrack is one of his more stellar efforts. My personal favorites are "Not Goin' Home Anymore", a great tune, and "South American Getaway", an alternating happy-go-lucky and melancholy tune. Of course, three versions of "Raindrops" is a good thing to have anytime.
All in all, a great trip down memory lane and a great example of the genius that is Bacharach.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2023This CD was hard to find, but after Burt Bachrach's death, I just remembered so vividly the melodies that were such a perfect score for that groundbreaking western! Everyone connected with it was at the peak of their talent & this album brings the haunting magic of those two outlaws right back!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2017This sound track is great. Not only supports the movie but it gives the ambiance and feeling of the Old West.
I believe one would like this if they are into the old western era.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2015William Goldman's BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID is one of the great classic Westerns, and his screenplay is a model for superlative screenwriting. However, as brilliant as Goldman's script is, the film just would not be the same without Burt Bacharach's multilayered soundtrack score. The cuts range from the optimistic "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" -- Butch's theme -- to the sentimental and nostalgic "Not Goin' Home Anymore," which segues from the ragtimey "The Old Fun City." From what we know of the real Butch Cassidy (George Leroy Parker), he would've approved of this music -- and ridden his bicycle to it joyfully.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2014What a classic movie! There's hardly a moment in this movie that is not brilliantly done either from the point of view of acting or producing/editing. And the soundtrack...ah, the soundtrack - fantastic!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2022CD was clear with no scratches. Small crack in case but that's ok.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2011I'd not seen this film since its release. The other day my son (a heavy-metal guitarist) saw it, and was raving about a couple of the soundtrack bit. To my surprise, I could recall each one he mentioned. So I ordered the soundtrack.
Yes, it's very good. The only thing that keeps it from five stars is that there are actually only a few themes here and they're re-used in interesting but not spectacular ways. As another reviewer wrote, "South American Getaway" is the standout piece, but "Bicycle Built For Joy" and the main theme are also quite good. Heck, "Raindrops" is good, but it was so damned overplayed when the film came out that I still have a hard time hearing it without reacting to the over-exposure. If you're not pushing 60, you might not have the same problem.
Overall: definitely worth buying. It was money well-spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soundtrack to Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid
A truly memorable soundtrack from Burt Bacharach to one of my favourite westerns. Uplifting and melancholy at the same time.

5.0 out of 5 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars 名作です!
映画は勿論傑作ですが音楽も素晴らしいです!
PニューマンとKロスの自転車のシーンで雨に濡れてもが掛かるのですが屈指の名シーンだと思います!
