Editorial Reviews

With a film as wildly, intelligently entertaining as Chicken Run, the score needs to be something special just to keep pace. Not a problem, then, for John Powell and Harry Gregson-Williams, a pair who have worked (together and separately) on other animated films (The Tigger Movie, Antz) and action films (Enemy of the State, Face/Off)--which has prepared them well for a film in which a gaggle of chickens re-enact The Great Escape. Powell and Gregson-Williams's score is perfectly suited to the action on screen: classic instrumentation and serious themes, but with the occasional nod and wink. This is a score that, like the film itself, takes itself just seriously enough. Never bombastic, the cues pay tribute to the music of classic war and action movies--there's a hint of The Dirty Dozen, a nod to Indiana Jones, even a Star Wars-esque bit toward the end. --Randy Silver

They say you can't buy happiness, but you CAN buy the Chicken Run soundtrack and that might just be better. Dynamic melodies, stylistic variation, and the sheer, quirky inventiveness and parody elements of the score make this well-worth listening to. John Powell and HGW did it again.

The CD arrived in a timely fashion, and in good condition too!

This album is one of the best I have heard in a long time. Every time I see the movie or listen to the soundtrack it gets stuck in my head. But it's good songs that I don't get sick of! This is such a great album for those who love musical scores and who love the movie.
Can't think of much more to say than that!
For those who decide to buy it, most won't regret it!

I haven't listened to this much - as it was a gift for someone else - but this was a good score. Slightly to typical for my taste, but still...
Hmm. Maybe I should listen to it more before writing a review.

This is definately an unexpected joy, it is fun from start to finish. The Score in Chicken Run is beautifully composed all the way through. There are many different kinds of music here like playful fanfare, sad music, and heroic music.
What really stands out is the theme, which is track 2. It sounds like a patriotic piece from the Civil War or something, but it has a childlike touch. Those things mix perfectly for the movie. It reminds me of being a kid.
If you enjoyed the movie, buy this CD. Otherwise, listen to it and give it a try. Reccomended.

The CD was in great condition when I got it and I got it earlier than expected. It was worth it.

This is a near masterpiece. I only have about 300 film scores in my collection, but this is definately one of the very best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flip Flop Fly

This film is easily one of my top 5 of all time, and a big part of that is due to the music, when I listened to this CD, I could see every scene from the film that accompanied it in my head, the music is brilliant, it can make you laugh, cry and even whistle or march along to the beat, and the songs, who doesn't want to dance to Flip Flop Fly or sing along with Wanderer, if you just want a good time whilst driving, stick this on or if there's a lul in a party, stick either of the songs on, well worth your money and to date, my heist recommendation!

Le succès de Chicken Run tient probablement autant a son humour ravageur et une animation touchante qu'a sa sublime musique. Je recommande ce véritable chef d'oeuvre a tous les mélomanes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Meisterhafter Score!

CHICKEN RUN macht Freude! 5 Sterne!

4.0 out of 5 stars Like the music but it has an error in the track order.

The music does remind me of the film and I like this soundtrack but there is just one problem. Up on the Roof and Into the Pie Machine are the wrong way round. I think putting Up on the Roof before Into the Pie Machine is a spoiler because it is the nicer track which comes after the Pie Machine in the film.
