Editorial Reviews
Amazon.com
Writer-director Brian Helgeland dared to use rock music--mostly anthems from the '70s--to accompany his rousing tale of a medieval jousting champion, and this anachronistic strategy pays off handsomely by giving the film a joyful exuberance that it might otherwise have lacked. Divorced from the movie, this hot sampling of hits is just another corporate song package intended to boost the movie's profit margin, but it's still a blast to listen to. For anyone who grew up with this music--by Queen, War, David Bowie, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Heart, Thin Lizzy, and others--the lineup of favorites plays like an hour from the golden years of album-oriented-rock radio. Younger listeners can hear what they missed--the music was so much better than it was given credit for at the time--and an update of Queen's "We Are the Champions," with Robbie Williams interpreting the irreplaceable Freddie Mercury, turns out to be not half bad (especially since Brian May's guitar licks are still fantastic). "One of Our Own" is the only track to sample Carter Burwell's lush film score with a dialogue clip included, and three tracks (including "Eye Conqueror" by Third Eye Blind) are passable nonmovie songs exclusive to this CD. Cynics might argue that this music has no place in a medieval knight's tale, and that this soundtrack is entirely perfunctory. Those opinions could be justified, but it's a whole lot easier--and a lot more fun--to press "play" and groove on this energetic celebration of heroic rock & roll. --Jeff Shannon

- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2024I have always been a fan of the movie and recently watched it again. I had previously had the CD with this music, but lo and behold, I could not find it no matter where that I looked. I remembered enjoying the soundtrack so thought that I would repurchase and am glad that I did. Price was fair and delivery was quick.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2020This is one of my all time favourite movies, and the music is a huge part of why it is still so appealing, even touching. This is a great collection of excellent music from Queen and other contemporary artists. I've added it to the thumb drive that lives in my car for the music I love to listen to when on long road trips (or even just when driving across town).
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2016There are plenty of reviews already that praise this soundtrack. Although there's not much new to be said, I'm happy to jump on the bandwagon. This is a fun soundtrack.
If you have a chance, check out the extended version of this movie. Paul Bettany's defense of Heath Ledger, while Ledger was stuck in i pillory, should have been nominated for an award. The restored cuts really flesh out an already fine film.
A Knight's Tale - Extended Cut
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2011If you watch the movie you simply fall in love with its music no matter what. It's still not the same to listen to this CD without all that epic knightly stuff going on in front of your nose, but still, it's a superb collection with some great music in it (including titles by Queen, AC/DC, David Bowie, Third Eye Blind, Eric Clapton, etc.) A must if you liked the movie, a good CD if you like music from the 80s and later.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2018my husband loves the movie and was so excited to get the cd with the same music so he could listen to the songs when he wants to. thanks
- Reviewed in the United States on October 31, 2013Music from the movie and it is excellent. May be something for the person who loves classic 80-90's rock. Looking for a little "Low Rider" or "We will Rock You" this is where you'll find it.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2013Bought this after seeing the movie. Was impressed with the great selection of songs from my teenage years. I keep it in the car and let it take me back to fun days and times.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Knight's Tale - Music from the Motion Picture
Grazie Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars The boys are back in town....
As far as I can tell, the cd for the music in this film is a rare thing. This was at a remarkable price, and delivered very swiftly, brand new in cellophane, and worth every penny. Top job!

5.0 out of 5 stars damit bin ich rundum happy

5.0 out of 5 stars Knights Tale
This is an old favourite. Quite an old-fashioned sort of film, full of derring-do, beateous maidens, evil villians etc etc, in fact, a bit of a romp! Humour underlies the story. If you like Heath Ledger, you'll enjoy this - supported by all sorts of character actors.
