There's never been anything quite like the symphonic film music series that John Williams has forged for George Lucas's sprawling Star Wars saga. By the time the sixth chapter rolls around, Williams will have created a body of work that spans fully 30 years of his career, a virtual Ring Cycle of sci-fi/fantasy soundtrack music. While Attack of the Clones again achieves the high standards of its predecessors, it also succeeds by both forging some rewarding new musical themes at the same time it begins to bring the galactic fable full circle. The budding relationship between now-teenaged Anakin Skywalker and Amidala/Padme is informed by "Across the Stars--Love Theme from Attack of the Clones," a grand romantic motif that's infused with a subtle melancholy that hints at the tragedy that must ultimately befall the young lovers. The composer's mastery of idiom and color serve him especially well in the action cues, infusing "Zam the Assassin and the Chase Through Coruscant" and "Jango's Escape" with bracing doses of 20th-century modernism and its inherent rhythmic fury performed, as always, by the London Symphony Orchestra. Williams also incorporates the "Force" and "Jedi" themes of the first SW trilogy sparingly, before "Confrontation with Count Dooku and Finale" completes the musical/thematic tapestry by interweaving The Empire Strikes Back's menacing "Imperial March" with both the new "Love Theme" and the Phantom Menace's dramatic choral showcase "Duel of the Fates." This sweeping denouement should rightfully take its place among the saga's most compelling musical sequences. Purists may grouse at the obviously abridged music here, but given history a complete/ultimate edition of the score can't be far behind. This soundtrack is issued with one of four different, collectible covers. --Jerry McCulley

Whatever your complaints for the movie itself might be, the soundstrack to Attack of the Clones is an excellent addition to the Star Wars music legacy. Every Star Wars movie has its own individual themes, in A New Hope it was Leia's theme and the Force theme, in Empire Strikes Back it was the Imperial March and Yoda's theme, in REturn of the Jedi it was Luke & Leia and Parade of Ewoks, in Phantom Menace it was Anakin's theme and the Duel of Fates and in Attack of the Clones, it is the love theme for Anakin and Padme. This piece of music is an instant classic and instantly identifies with the young Jedi and the Senator. As for the rest of the cd, Williams does an excellent job incorporating music from the previous four movies into the film, including the Imperial March and the Duel of Fates. The music mirrors and enhances the moods of the characters. For example, track 11 The Tusken Camp/The Homestead conveys Anakin's grief and rage at the murder of his mother, and the bloody revenge he takes of the Raiders. Tracks like Zam the assassin/Chase through Curuscant are different for a Star Wars film, but fit in perfectly with the busy nightlife of the capital planet. The only criticism that I have of this cd, is the fact that its not the complete score like the soundtracks for the original Trilogy. Fans will be forced to wait a couple years till a complete version is released, as they were forced to wait after the Phantom Menace.

I review items very seldomly, but this definitely earned a review from me. Others have already expressed what I'd like to say in a much more articulate manner, but nevertheless I wanted to chime in with the praise as well. To say this score is brilliant would be a gross understatement. Mr. Williams has outdone himself!! I agree with the reviewer who said this is his best work since "Saving Private Ryan." I would be even bolder and say that it's his best work since "E.T." It's THAT good.
I admit, I was one of the folks who was completely bowled over by the "Harry Potter" score (I had no idea it was even a John Williams composition until the credits came on; the entire time I watched it, I kept telling the person next to me how beautiful it was and how the style reminded me of John Williams. Small wonder!). But as much as I loved the HP score and thought it was his best work in years, AOTC blows it out of the water. "Across the Stars" is exquisite, and has firmly entrenched itself in my heart alongside the "Force Theme" and "Luke and Leia's Theme" as my all-time favorites. It is John Williams at his best. The rest of the score is just as dazzling and breathtaking.
I know many folks are holding out for the inevitable ultimate soundtrack, but don't miss out on hearing the music on THIS CD. You will not be sorry. It DESERVES the mantle of SW through and through.

I love it.It has really good songs in it.My favorite song is"Across The Stars".It doesn't come with a poster, but something else.I won't say what it is.John Williams knows what he's doing in this soundtrack! It came early in a good way. So,I very, very, very, satisfied.I am beyond satisfied! I love it. It's Great. You will not regret buying it if you buy it.And by the way,I don't think you can buy it in stores. You willlove it if you buy it.AND if you like Star Wars.Especially,if your favorite episode is Episode II.The only thing that was bad(But not very bad it is a minor thing) is that on the case it had a scratch. That is the only thing. It is Great!!!

John Williams is probably the best living composer on the planet. He can bring feeling and emotion to just about anything he writes. Episode 2 feels a bit darker and moodier at times than its predecessor soundtrack, but considering how the movie goes that would be natural. John Williams is a master at what he does. This soundtrack is the evidence.

Just like every copy of this album it seems, when ripping it, the information from the internet is completely incorrect, but I guess that's a manufacturer problem, I don't know. When I got it, the case was a little cracked. Other than that, the CD works perfectly fine and sounds good. Finally, for the first time, I have listened to the soundtrack to Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and I like it!

Glad I bought this version. Unlike some of the others, it is an integrated suite of pieces. It plays just fine on my Windows PC. At times the music is strong and forceful, at times energetic like Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, and at other times soft and ethereal. If you like lyrical music, you'll enjoy the touching love song theme (Across the Stars), which John Williams weaves into the score numerous times.

John Williams pulls off another fine score, 'Across the Stars' should have been a more memorably contribution to the library of compositions for the saga, but the negative reviews of the love story in the film will undoubtedly tarnish it by association - but the music is of a high standard.

Regardless of whether you found the prequel trilogy to be good, bad or ugly - the scores by John Williams are wonderfully realized and step smoothly into the "Star Wars" aural landscape. His work on Episode II is no less than his standard high accomplishments from a galaxy far, far away - and even where the prequel films may stumble, the score is always there to help even out the rough spots.
