What's a woebegone wall-crawler to do? Arachnid-powered superteen Peter Parker's all-too-human foibles are never far from the heart of director Sam Raimi's second installment of the Spider-Man saga, giving it an emotional resonance that sets it smartly apart from its summer blockbuster competition. But while Raimi and star Toby McGuire help emotionally ground the film, its stunning CGI effects -- and this robust, aggressive orchestral score by Danny Elfman -- insure we never forget this is no mere soap opera. The composer returns with a vengeance to the larger-than-life, crowd-pleasing sensibility of his acclaimed work on Batman and its sequel, though he occasionally seasons it with sparing dashes of the post-modern flirtations of his Hulk score. Elfman conjures his formula masterfully, bookending a suitably moody, rhythmically anxious new theme for Dr. Octopus with a brassy reprise of villainy-past on "The Goblin Returns." Though leavened by more emotionally bright passages, it's a score largely dominated by the dark, brooding comic book melodramatics that are the favorite of so many Elfman acolytes. --Jerry McCulley

Well, it escaped that "nintees" feeling.
The first soundtrack Danny Elfman composed for the Spiderman franchise does seem a bit outdated to our highly advanced society of 2016.(haha..)
This one is better. The themes sound slightly more modern, and are a bit more fun.

    Top 5 songs -
Track 3 "Doc Ock is Born". In all honesty, the only good part of this song is the first few moments, where Danny slowly builds suspension with woodwind, percussion...but then he goes and spoils it with abrasive bass.

Track 12 "Armageddon/A Really Big Web!" Loud, triumphant first half followed by calm second half.

Track 9 "He's Back!" A nice reprise of "End Credits" from the original movie.

Track 14 "At Long Last, Love!" Lovely song with return of the ol' "Spiderman swinging away" theme.

Track 13 "The Goblin Returns". DEFINITELY top 5. Cool reprise of Norman Ozborn's original theme.

Also, the main title is excellent. Maybe not Star Wars, but definitely treads on epic.

All in all, a more modern - and more enjoyable - soundtrack for Spiderman fans.

This is a great soundtrack to have in anyones collection.

I Have been a fan of Danny Elfmans Work for some time now i think the first time i heard him was when he did the score for the first batman film which i loved then i heard his work again come mission impossible 1 which was a great soundtrack, i also just recently brought planet of the apes score which is another fine example of his work but if u want the best of Danny Elfman u must have this cd in youre collection.

it is really different to his other soundtracks which supprised me a lot we r seeing a new Danny Elfman with this soundtrack with all the comic books now beeing turned into films they have to get the best soundtracks and this is one of them my favorite tracks on this cd are Spiderman 2 main theme, Dock ock is born, and Dock Ock's Machine which are amazing tracks they dont last more than 3mins each but still give u the feel of the film and what danny is trying to get through to the audience watching the film.

I Only just recently started to by Dannys work and Spiderman 2 score was one of my first of his soundtracks, i also recommend The Batman Score and Mission Impossible 1 which are great works of art by Danny this is a must buy for all Spiderman fans and Fans Of Danny himself truly worth the money i would also recommend the siderman 2 various artist cd which i dont usually buy but has the rest of the songs in the film which didnt make it on to this cd.

If u buy these Cd's u won't regreat it trust me.

The Spider-Man theme is one of Danny Elfman's most memorable compositions, and the climax of this film is a pretty inspiring piece of score as well. However, it's a short and incomplete album. The pop songs are in a separate album (except Raindrops, which is at the end of this one for some reason), but this still isn't a complete score, and the some of the interstitial score that is here isn't as good as the cues that were cut. Overall, a decent purchase and available for cheap these days, but falls short of capturing the really great musical experience that this movie was.

Okay, yes, this soundtrack is utterly short. But it's still great. I'm pretty sure the reason for it being short, is because you can only hear the same things over and over again. There's a lot of repeating themes in this score and the past score. I mean, I could be wrong, but it's what makes sense. I think this is a better score than the last. I love Doc Ock's theme in this score. I also hear some motives from his past scores as well. A little bit from Men in Black, and a hint of Planet of the Apes. I personally love this score, but I also love everything this man writes. So if you're a true Elfman fan, than buy this regardless of length, because I promise you will be pleased by this score.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tan disfrutable como la primera parte
Reviewed in Spain on April 26, 2015

5.0 out of 5 stars
Reviewed in Japan on August 4, 2004

特に10曲目の「Train/Appreciation」はパワフルで迫力充分。
