It is not often you find a gem like this in soundtrack music , this music is creepy and eerie very atmospheric and a pleasure to listen to. This musician clearly is a Bernard Hermann fan because the style is similar to the Day the earth stood still, that is ok because it is a little different and well done though the inspiration for this soundtrack must have been Bernard Hermann. Either way I love this soundtrack it is one of my favorite regular listen to C.Ds at home or in the car.

The previous reviewer obviously has no clue as to what he is listening to. This not JUST a SOUNDTRACK as he so eloquently put it, it is the reincarnation of Bernard Herrmann himself.

If you like music that has a complete and set mood throughout, kinda like crash or that of Bernard Herrmann's scores, then you have to get this. Just listen to Underground Escape if you don't believe me.

It is spectacular, and I don't use that word lightly. This is every Herrmann's fan boy fantasy come true. Every string movement sounds like the master himself produced it. That's not to say that the composer's true voice doesn't ring true to himself. It is creepy, tense and always sets you on edge. You could drive in your car for hours, thinking that something was going to happen, if you we're in the right mind set, with this music backing you up.

If you are a writer that likes to set the mood, again it's for you. If you like film music then it's for you. If you dig gettin the creeps outta your music, then well...what are you waiting for, don't buy another Joel McNeely wanna be remake. Get this and get it now before people get wise!

"The Machinist" was a very bizarre and freaky film, and listening to the soundtrack brings back memories of the film. The first song is almost scary, the rest have the same theme but are equally good. Not really a soundtrack I would listen to regularly, but good music nonetheless.
