From his scores to NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2 and the obscure movies that he labored over in the early eighties, to the breakthrough of HELLRAISER to last year's powerful PRIEST, Christopher Young has always been able to bring melody, not just harshness and stings, to the toughest genre to score horror movies with beautiful melodies. So good are his themes to HELLBOUND and THE DARK HALF, I always seek out his non-horror scores, knowing he will shine when not forced to deal with so much darkness. HAUNTED SUMMER is one example of this, others being BAT-21, CREATION, and now SLEEPWALKING. It is sort of a sequel to his score for BRIGHT ANGEL, a quiet masterpiece of contemplative mood, but SLEEPWALKING seems more energetic, the music not only about navel-gazing but, signified by the use of guitars, it's also about moving on. His main theme is one of those simple ones he can write that have me hitting the repeat button. As music for a character trying to move forward in life, "Heavens To Be Had" begins with a strumming guitar rhythm before a simple three-note repeating figure. I cannot explain music well, but this very simple idea, later accented by strings, is music for someone trying to regain or find confidence to approach his challenges in life. Once again, Young has found the soul of a movie and used just the right touch to accept it, draw attention to it when needed. The best compliment I can pay Christopher Young is that after twenty-five years of buying every score of his I can find, I still eagerly grab them without hearing a note first, knowing he won't disappoint. Just as his GHOST RIDER theme was able to bring new life to the routine superhero Big Theme, SLEEPWALKING uses simple ideas that just get to me, so that I have to pay his music the ultimate compliment:when the CD is over, I hit "play" again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warum nicht in Deutschland veroeffentlicht???
Reviewed in Germany on July 17, 2009
Weitere technische Daten:

Meine Aufforderung an duie Filmindustrie: Bitte in Deutschland mit deutscher Sprache veroeffentlichen!!!!!
