After what turned out to be a very fruitful weekend at
the box office last weekend for John Q, Denzel
Washington should see his picture on top once again. My
guess is that the word of mouth on the movie will
eventually push it past the $100 million mark, even
though critics mostly dislike it. John Q won't drop the
usual percentage and will come in at #1 for the second
weekend in a row with around $15 million.
As for the two new movies premiering this weekend, don't
be surprised if they open kind of big and then fall
quickly afterwards. Both movies are receiving some of
the worst reviews in a long time and my guess is it's
not going to be movies where critics and audiences
disagree. Then again, maybe the surprise ending for
Dragonfly is so good that it will become another Sixth
Sense (Ha Ha). |

Look for Queen Of The Damned to bite into second place
for the weekend with around $10.5 million (2,511
theaters).
Dragonfly won't even be as lucky, as it will probably
come in at number four with right around $9 million
(2,507 theaters).
In third place will be Return To Never Land with about
another $10 million. Coming in at #5 will be the
surprise hit, Crossroads with about $8.5 million. |
