Getting there at around 9:25, there was a
line down the street and around the
corner, but the show had not sold out yet
(nor did it). Walking toward the end of
the long line suggested that we'd be
getting some of the worst seats in the
house (at that point I didn't really
care), but the line size was a bit
deceiving once we got inside. Eventually,
the theater (which holds 1300 people)
filled up with around 1100 - 1200 people.
A few cheers went up when the lights
dimmed, with the first trailer being
Beyond Borders. I had heard that the
opening night 10 crowd boo'd this off the
stage, but this audience merely gave it a
silent treatment.
Next up was The Alamo, which had
sarcastic remarks being thrown out, along
with a loud, "This looks terrible!"
comment which withdrew a round of
laughter.
Scary Movie 3 followed, which pretty
much brought the house down. A ton of
laughs flowed throughout the preview, with
even a light applause and cheers sparking
once it ended.
The Matrix Revolutions was next, which
had a lot of cheering at the load-up,
followed by even more once the ad
concluded. The response was not as
enormous as some of the reactions from
Reloaded's trailers, but it still was more
convincing of a response than opening
night where I originally saw Kill Bill.
Bad Santa wrapped it up, which
retrieved laughs but not to the extent of
Scary Movie 3. The audience seemed into
it, but it didn't get a rave reception.
With the Village theater actually
having bass (an advantage over the
Cineplex Odeon) as well as killer surround
sound, the experience was well worth it
for a second time around. The audience
didn't really cheer or clap that much
throughout the show (some claps at the
title coming to the screen), but the
conclusion of one of the major fights near
the end withdrew a round of applause, with
cheering going into the air when Lucy Liu
finished up her "head" speech. An applause
sprung when the end credits rolled, with
most walking out looking extremely
pleased.
