  Washington Heights (Special)
by Lee Tistaert

As a favor to a neighbor of mine distributing a small art-house film called Washington Heights, I was hoping to spread on a little word regarding their new flick. While I haven't seen it, the film opens Friday, May 9 in 30 theaters in New York City, with good reviews backing it up.

To take a peek at Washington Heights' trailer and clips, you can head on over to Yahoo at: http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&id=1808464290&cf=trailer

For critic reviews, there's also Rotten Tomatoes:

The film is Latino oriented and tells the story of a young man (Carlos Ramirez) who seeks to escape his neighborhood. Following his father's murder, who owns a bodega in the area, Ramirez must set aside his true ambitions of being a comic illustrator and take on the business of his father; thus, the situation forces him to contemplate where his life should really go.

If I get the chance to see Washington Heights in theaters I will supply you all with a review, but in the meantime after seeing the distributor's quirky comedy, Dirt, a few months back, it sounds like their streak could be continued with another solid entry.
