Mann's Chinese Theater in Hollywood sold out in most time slots. I purchased
tickets a week in advance and waited two hours in line around the block for
the Friday 7:15 P.M. showing.

as of Wednesday/Thurs Morning:
Watched the Matrix Reloaded at AMC Ford City 14. Surprisingly, no
sell outs, but the crowded was reasonably energized (two people brought
babies - if you're out there, we'll pitch in for babysitters for
Revolutions). The trailer highlights: T3 - all new trailer shows much
more action and is a huge improvement. This got everyone excited.
2 Fast 2 Furious had a decent reaction, but Bad Boys 2 really got the
crowd going. The movie is really to hard to go into with one paragraph
- I still need
time to
think it out. And yes, there is a Revolutions Preview
at the VERY end of the movie. I had heard it was a little bit
in to the credits, but NO, it after what seemed like 10 minutes of credits.
For those who might of missed it: (spoilers:
basically Neo vs. Agent Smith once again on
a rainy street. We see more shots of Zion and what look like the
machines from the end of Aliens. )
It's only 1 minute and has a lot of fast cuts.
as of Tuesday:
Despite wild rumors to the contrary, tickets are still available
for the Wednesday night showings (outside Downtown) and into the weekend.
as of Sunday:
Downtown Chicago appears to be completely sold out for Wednesday night,
but I there were still plenty of tickets in the suburban theaters. The
evening shows on Thursday were beginning to sell out. Got my tickets
online, so I don't know if there are any leather clad fans lining up outside
the theater yet (gun fights in the theater don't have the same affect as
light saber fights).

The talk around here is that Matrix is in line or exceeding the
presale levels of Spider-Man. This doesn't mean it will gross the same
amount, but at least there is the same amount of pre-release buzz.

The crowds here loved
it. A few people disappointed with the sudden end, but cheers were heard all
through the action. A few started clapping and standing for Freddy vs.
Jason. I was surprised to see such young kids get excited for characters
from before their time. Owatonna, MN

Like the rest of you
writing on the crowd report, I have just seen The Matrix Reloaded, or should
I say I have beheld a spectacle. This movie was 10 times my expectations. It
was repetitive of the first one, but still stuck to it's roots while giving
the audience much to think about. Concerning the crowd, it sold about 85%
capacity in a 250 seat theater. Most of the moviegoers were either loyal
fans or eager high schoolers, but everyone was excited. The line formed five
hours early and left everyone tense to get their tickets. At the end I heard
nothing but good things to say about it, while I was left in pure AWE! The
effects were thrilling, while the story kept you on your toes. This is a
movie for anyone who enjoys movies and I plan to see it again twice this
weekend. Minneapolis, MN

Crowd Reports: Went to
Wednesday night, Thursday morning and afternoon, and Friday morning,
afternoon and evening showings. ALL SEATS WERE SOLD OUT. The crowds were
amazing, with lines about 100 long at each showing... GREAT TURNOUT!
Edgewater, NJ
(as of Thursday, May 15)
I caught Matrix Reloaded last night at Edgewater National Amusements. All I
can say is, WOW! That was unbelievable. Jesus! The crowd seemed to eat it
up. Much cheers were had during the Neo vs. 200 Agent Smiths fight. The
trailers didn't go over to well. Legally Blonde 2 received some boos and
comments(it really does look awful). Terminator 3 received claps at first,
but then died out. Not too happy with that one. Bad Boys 2 got the best
reaction. Laughs, cheers, everyone ate it up. It looks like it could be a
good sequel. Funny story about the screening, I attended the 10:30 showing.
Two screens had the 10:30. In the last 5 minutes, the sound went off. It
came in once-and-awhile. Enough was heard to understand what was going on.
When it ended, the crowd rushed the manager's desk, who said we were all
lying. Before he knew it, the other 10:30 crowd came out with the same
problems. There were more than 150 people in the lobby. It took like 20
minutes before he realized we weren't leaving without free tickets.
Mountain View, CA (as of Thursday, May 15)
Not so good...the movie drags during the first hour. CGI effects were too
obvious
Daytona Beach, FL (as of Saturday, May 17)
Just saw the movie. Had to *cough*
skip school to get tickets to the Thursday 8 p.m. showing. It was a good
movie, but the crowd did boo when it ended. Out of anger or delight? You
tell me. We where in that theater an hour before it was set to come on to
ensure seats .We where not alone. either.
Cinti, OH (as of Saturday, May 17)
It was a good movie. It wasn't as
good as I expected or most people did, but I guess that everyone had
expectations that are hard for any movie to meet. I thought the Terminator
3 preview was a lot better but 2 Fast 2 Furious is going to go nowhere.
Overall, good movie, they did a good job expanding the plot and not just
special effects. It definitely had the best fighting sequences I've ever
seen. They were unreal. |
