The film is to be seen as a straight horror that takes place within a cinema.
The plot revolves around a group of male friends who meet up at a cinema on a Friday night to see a horror film. They are made up of a slightly geeky virgin character, a nicer 'normal' person, a sporty out-going person, a funny and cool person and a slightly bullyish, mean-spirited character. However, it is shown that as each person leaves their home to meet with their friends at 6:00pm, they miss an important breaking news story telling of how a British stalker who kills male teenagers is roaming around the area.
The friends all arrive at the cinema and meet up with an unpopular girl from school who the slightly geeky character invites to the screening. Inside, they notice that the place is almost deserted and take it as a chance to take as much as they want and enter their screening without paying. However, they soon notice that something is wrong when the music stops, the screen goes white and video screens are shown displaying each srceening, including their own. Escape is impossible, as outside exits and cinema doors have been locked. A dice is rolled on the screen, displays a number and soon everyone in that screening is shown to have been killed by the stalker with a twisted garrotte, which means he is in the building.
As the killer reaches the final screening, the main characters have to fight and hide to survive from his attacks until only two victims are left (ideally the unpopular girl and the geeky male).
The killer reveals to them that the reason he hates male teens is because he was harassed by them when he was younger due to schizophrenia, which got him into trouble in school by those who thought he was day-dreaming. He never attacked the girls because they were sympathetic and the geeky guys because they knew how to treat people with 'problems'. In the end, he lets the two go.
A twist ending is revealed that shows the stalker standing outside the school, still watching the same group of teens. He smiles and says 'That'll work nicely'.
