It is two hundred fifty years into the future, and instead of looking bright, the cities around the world are dirtier and less appealing because of a recent global war. Over the span of the two-year war, technology has grown so much that human beings rely mainly on it. They are run by three artificial intelligence mechanisms known as The Triple Brains, which are devices kept securely in the hands of the government that grant the people technology to think and do things for them. The militaries fought the war under these brains, and many believe that is how much disaster and destruction came about. To add on to the list of problems, the secret is let out that if one of the brains is used for a single person?s purposes that person would gain some sort of great power--which could be an immense genius, ability to take over people?s minds or something else--it is a mystery. Because of this secret, many people attempt to steal the brains and two people become successful in getting one on different events. They end up never getting caught and not being seen again. The head of the Department of Triple Brain Artificial Intelligence (DTB-AI), Agent Weston, keeps a section of his agents on the search for the thieves. He makes sure that the last brain is extremely protected. Meanwhile in our real world, many people--despite the aftermath of the war--are living happily not having to think for themselves any more, despite the debates about how humans are the only species who are not making any uses of their brains and should go back to the natural way. After losing his family in the war, one of the people not run by artificial intelligence--Mark Plathro--who believes that the non-use of the human brain will eventually bring more destruction--decides to take action against the DBT-AI. He eventually steals the last brain and--to the people?s surprise--decides to destroy instead of keep it. A frantic hunt begins for him and Agent Weston starts to lose his mind as the waves of the last brain gradually loses its effect on the people, causing them to of course lose their intelligence and abilities. If the man destroys the brain, it would be the end to a great percentage of the population, which would be more devastating than the effects of the global war.
